The oilier your skin, the more you'll want to focus on areas particularly subject to drying and aging, as your skin is self-lubricating naturally. With dry skin, be more liberal with usage. Squalane absorbs very quickly (permeates at a rate of 2mm per second). On clean skin, start with a drop under each eye, spread gently to as far as it naturally goes. Add a drop to each cheek, one to the point of your chin that you can also use to cover your lips (and do cover your lips unless the "neutral" taste bothers you) and put a drop on your forehead. Gently glide the little drops over your face. Perhaps the single most important application is around your eyes before bed. Squalane has been tested for eye sensitivity, and is perfectly safe. (At 100% concentration, squalane is a non-irritant to rabbit skin and eyes.) If you get it in your eyes and it feels uncomfortable, flush with water. If you like the look of glossy lashes, squalane oil is an excellent choice. If your hands are dry, a drop on the back of each is nice. For cuticles that are tearing or splitting, squalane is very good, but for healthy cuticles, we prefer a less expensive oil such as olive. Anecdotally, squalane seems to be making oily skin produce less midday shine. If you have any family suffering from overly oily skin, they might give it a try. They'll know in the first few hours if it stabilizes their oil productionit's an immediate effect. No need to try it for a week; it either works for them or it doesn't. Because squalane is a fast, deep penetrating oil and an effective transdermal carrier, it may improve the results of other skin care products you use, as they will be delivered deeper. For instance, if you use a salicylic acid product to fight acne inside your pores, squalane will help the salicylic acid get there. |
